Used Rental Sales

Some camping gear and photography supplies are laid out in a rectangular grid.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Towards the end of each winter and summer season our team reviews our complete rental fleet for damages, repairs and documentation review to ensure we’re taking care of the equipment while meeting local, state, federal and tribal regulations. Sometimes in this process we identify gear that is ready to be retired from our fleet. Anything that is too worn for anyone’s use is recycled or returned to the manufacturer’s, many of whom can repurpose the materials.

Anything that could still be useful to someone is then offered for sale at a greatly discounted price. This page is regularly updated to reflect the current status of our rental fleet. If there’s anything we’re selling you can learn more about those items here before purchasing and picking up in store. If you aren’t able to pick up items we are happy to ship them to you for a fee.

In general there are 3 phases to selling used gear:

  1. Fleet Review: This is when our team takes a look at everything and decides what we’re removing from our rental fleet. Greatly damaged or irreparable items are recycled or returned to the manufacturer.

  2. Gear Pricing: Next our staff will evaluate the item’s original cost against it’s retail (or MSRP) pricing, relative to the item’s condition and age to calculate a resale price.

  3. Selling Used Gear: Finally items are ready for resale, and we do everything we can to make sure the equipment finds a great new home!

Please note that by purchasing used rental equipment you acknowledge and accept the item’s condition as is. Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply takes no responsibility for these items after purchase.

  • Cross Country Skis, Boots & Poles: Just arrived at the end of last winter and most are still in new condition. No plans to sell in 2023.

  • Hok Skis: Used but still in good condition. No plans to sell in 2023.

  • Hot Tents: Used but still in good condition. No plans to sell in 2023.

  • Ice Climbing Equipment: We are preparing to sell used ice picks in addition to the climbing equipment listed in the summer rental section.

  • Ice Fishing Equipment: Used but still in good condition. No plans to sell in 2023.
